Bellflower Way is a large, modern, comfortable house in an attractive, safe area of Hampshire with local bus routes running from the end of the road. Set up in 2005, this project is for four adults with learning difficulties and/or mental health issues for whom it is not
problematic living with others. Currently the project supports a married couple with Down’s Syndrome, a young man with Autism and a man with Cerebral Palsy who, with the appropriate support, find living together beneficial.
A member of staff is always present at the project and service users get one on one support depending upon their assessed needs. There is also an element of shared support as it is a communal project.
The Leigh Road project is a renovated house in Eastleigh. The house has been separated into three flats and there is a separate staff area. Running since 2008, this project is based on the idea that there are many service users whose
placements fail in communal projects as they find it problematic living with others, although require a high level of support.
Staff are always on site at the project and service users get varying levels support depending upon their assessed needs.
At present Leigh Road houses a young man with autism and two men with learning difficulties/mental health issues. A member of staff always sleeps in at the project so this element of support is shared between the three service users.
Amity also supports people who live in their own privately rented or housing association homes in the Hampshire area. We currently have three service users who are supported this way, and we offer them the level of support that their individual circumstances dictate.
healthier. I have learnt how to pay bills, to cook for myself and take care of my house. Most of all I get on very well with people now, something I used to find much more difficult."
"I’m Mark and I am 24 years old. I have autism. I used to be morbidly obese and I was very unhealthy and didn’t care about what I ate. When Amity started supporting me 5 years ago they helped me to learn about taking care of myself. Now I’m 5 stone lighter, and I am happier and
The house is a two bedroomed spacious property with a long garden. It is situated in Eastleigh town centre within walking distance of the cinema, shops and bus station. This project was set up in 2010 to house one service user who can not live with other people and needs 24hr support and a sleep in.
MJS is Amity's sister company that sources properties and sets housing projects up for people with learning difficulties and mental health issues.
There is a lack of housing in the Hampshire area for service users, with many people living at home with their parents, young people who fall into the adult sector of social services who need support coming out of residential education and service users whose current placements are failing for various reasons. MJS looks to find solutions, work with the local adult services and service users to provide a housing project that will work long term for them and give them the security they need.
